Background Information

Art is a broad term for a wide range of creative products, including paintings, photographs, dances, songs, written works, plays, ceramics, etc. The qualifications for what is considered art varies immensely from individual to individual. Some people consider everything to be art, while others have thoroughly constructed definitions that distinguish art from other objects.

You probably experience a lot of art every day, even if you don’t get to art museums very often. Homes are often decorated with various forms of wall art, including paintings and photographs. Graphic design, logos, and many images you see when browsing the web are also artistic renditions. Artistic elements are also often present in daily objects, from the embellishment on a comforter to the design on the outside of a coffee mug.

For the sake of organization, items in this category refer to physical artistic creations whose primary purpose is to be observed as opposed to fulfilling a functional purpose (i.e. an artistic coffee cup is better housed under kitchenware).

Physical artistic creations (i.e. paintings, photographic prints, pots, tapestries, etc.) might need repair if they suffer damage. Common repair needs for art include remedying chipped or shattered pottery, repairing photo/painting frames, etc.
