Background and Identification
The Barnes & Noble Nook is a range of e-readers and tablets, primarily advertised as The Barnes & Noble Nook 1st Edition initially released in October 2009, with a Wi-Fi only model following in June of 2010. The Nook Color, the first proper tablet of the brand, released in November of 2011. It was followed by the Nook Tablet in November of 2011, with a cheaper 8 GB version releasing in 2012 as a less expensive option.
Some Nooks are standard e-readers, only offering the user with the ability to store and read e-books, along with certain other forms of media. Alternatively, some Nook models are full-fledged tablets running Android.
Nook devices are thin, rounded rectangles, usually black or gray in color, and include the Nook logo printed on the back of the device.
