Background and Identification

The Casio fx-82ES is a two-line display scientific calculator with 252 functions made by Casio Computer Co., Ltd. Casio is a Japanese consumer and commercial electronics manufacturer that produces calculators, mobile phones, digital cameras, electronic musical instruments, and analog and digital watches. The fx-82ES model was introduced in 2004 as the first calculator to incorporate the Natural Textbook Display (or Natural Display) system. The Natural Textbook Display allows the calculator to display expressions of logarithms, fractions, exponents, powers, and square roots as they are written in textbooks. This feature is designed to make this calculator easier to use and understand.

The Casio fx-82ES model features a full dot matrix display and includes functions like fraction calculations, combinations, and permutations, as well as statistical functions like standard deviation and regression analysis. It includes seven variable memory keys and comes with a hard plastic slide-on case. The calculator includes mainly black plastic keys, though the clear (‘AC’) and delete (‘DEL’) buttons are a pink color.

The Casio fx-82ES model can be identified by the name “Casio” printed in capital letters in the top left-hand corner of the calculator. The model name “fx-82ES” is printed in the top right-hand corner in italicized font. The words"Natural-V.P.A.M.” are printed in pink font directly above the center of the calculator’s screen. Natural-V.P.A.M. stands for Natural Visually Perfect Algebraic Method, meaning that the calculator displays functions like roots and fractions as they appear in textbooks.
