Background and Identification

Released in 2007, the Nerf Dart Tag Gun, better known as the Eliminator (or the Micro Blaster) is a blaster toy gun that can hold two Whistler Darts, which have a small opening at the dart head so that when they are fired, air is released, creating a whistle noise. A fun fact about Whistler Darts is that weight on the dart head actually adds more distance when the dart is fired by itself. Also, it is easier to hear the distinct whistle noise when there is little to no noise.

In its package, the Eliminator comes with an instruction book, four blasters, and two Whistler Darts per blaster. The Eliminator was re-released as the Dart Tag Micro Blaster in 2008 and included two Hyperfires (another type of Nerf gun), two Dart Tag scoring vests, and two Vision Gear Glasses. The red model is the older version and it is included in its own package, called the Elimination game. The second variation is the green and orange models which were included in the Hyperfire Deluxe 2-Player Set. This set was seen as mediocre because the size of the blaster limited its overall power. The Whistler Darts were included with these blasters previously, but now the standard green and orange Tag Darts are the ones included.

Due to the ability to easily make modifications to these blasters, the Eliminators were again released in 2008 after being modified under the name Reflex IX-1, which now had a tactical rail, but lost the dart storage.
