Step 1

Close the lid and turn the laptop over to access the back cover.

Step 2

Remove the five 4 mm screws from the back of the laptop using a Phillips #0 screwdriver.
Loosen the two remaining captive screws using a Phillips #0 screwdriver.
Captive screws tend to have a slightly larger head than normal screws, so it is important to use the correct size screwdriver to avoid damaging the screw or the device.

Step 3

Remove the five 3 mm screws that secure the battery to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Step 4

Carefully disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Pulling on the cable with too much force could cause it to break or damage. Make sure to be gentle while completing this step, as it should not require any additional force.
