Introduction

This guide will walk you through the steps that are required to disassemble and replace the screen on your Dell Precision M6600. Make sure to have the iFixit Opening Tool, and the Pro Tech Toolkit, before beginning the following steps.

Before beginning this repair, be sure to power off your laptop and disconnect from your charger.

Step 1

Open the laptop.
Make sure to power off your laptop and that the laptop charger is not connected before continuing to the next step.

Easier to remove the battery before opening the laptop.

Make sure the laptop is shut down properly, unplug the charging cable (if it was plugged in), close the laptop and remove the battery.

Step 2

Use the iFixit opening tool to pry the bezel of the screen perimeter from the screen.

Step 3

Use a screwdriver to remove the screws securing the screen.

Step 4

Carefully pull the gold cable out from the screen.
Remove the screen.

Hey! I am on the hunt for a guide on how to install a 30 pin panel into the m6600. My 40 pin LVDS connector shorted and has broken pins so I am attempting to use the 30 pin connector included on the PCB. I’ve heard I need some sort of daughter board adapter inside the display housing to drive a 30 pin panel and I’m curious if you guys can figure this out. I can’t really find that much information about it.
