If your Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1040 (model V11H772020 or H772A) is overheating or producing loud noises, it could be an issue with a dirty air filter. This guide will demonstrate the steps necessary for replacing your air filter.
The air filter in the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1040 is about the size of a playing card, and it filters all air incoming to the fan. If this filter is clogged, air flow to the fan will be reduced which can lead to overheating and reduce the lifespan of the projector.
Before beginning, make sure to turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

Locate the air filter cover located on the top of the projector on the nearest side adjacent to the lens

Remove the air filter cover by gripping the ridge underneath it and pulling upwards

Pull the air filter out of the projector by gripping the black tab on the top of the air filter

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
