Background and Identification
The Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic were released in 2009. They were designed to provide notable upgrades to the acclaimed Apple iPod Earphones while still providing the same performance and comfort. These upgrades include convenient buttons that let you adjust volume, control music and video playback, and even answer or end calls on your iPhone. The Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic came in the box with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, and third-generation iPod touch. They were also sold separately in the Apple Store.
The Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic are the predecessor to the Apple EarPods, which were released in 2012 to provide an upgraded shape and improved sound quality.
While modern Apple mobile devices since the iPhone 7 include the Lightning Connector port in place of a 3.5 mm audio jack, this doesn’t mean all is lost for the Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic. There is a Lightning to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter available from Apple for $9.00. This adapter allows users to plug headphones with 3.5 mm audio jacks, such as Apple Earphones or other brands of wired headphones, into their Lightning Connector devices.
Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic have two circular earbuds at the end of a split cable and a 3.5 mm audio connector at the other end. They are white in color.
