Background and Identification

The Maquet Servo 900 is a “Positive Pressure Invasive Conventional” ventilator, meaning that both lungs can be individually ventilated with multiple units and it can be used in scenarios such as MRI scans. The development of parts for this device started in the 1960s, and the device was available for shipment starting in 1971. Since then it has developed into the Servo 900 B and Servo 900 C which are sold to this day.

The Maquet Servo 900 was originally manufactured and sold by Siemens, which was purchased by Maquet. This device is used on patients of all ages from newborns to adults. The device can be found on the used market from around $500 to $1500 USD.  A recall was issued in 2010 for risk of damaging the ventilators pressure transducers when the device is used with a system with below 100cm H2O pressure.
