Background and Identificiation
The Pioneer A1 XW-SMA1-K is one of three of Pioneer’s Airplay units. It is identfied by the “xxxxxx” number on the back. It sports a sleek black casing and metal grill, with Andrew Jones’s, well-known speaker engineer who designed the speaker, signature brandished on the back. It is slightly smaller than the other two and is easily portable and usable without a Wi-Fi connection.
The Pioneer A1 XW-SMA1-K’s Airplay service lets you stream from iTunes on your phone or other iOS device via Wi-Fi Direct, any DLNA server, or a hard connection like USB or a 3.5 mm plug. DLNA allows you to use the speaker with a non-iOS device, and there is an HTC connect option. This speaker uses Wi-Fi to establish a stronger connection than bluetooth and higher audio quality due to increased bandwidth. It also boasts dual 77mm woofers, 20mm tweeter, and dual 10w by 10 w amplifiers.
