Background

Designed by HTC under the codename "Apache," the UTStarcom was first released as the Sprint PPC 6700 in October 2005. The XV6700 model is Verizon's Apache version that became available in February 2006. The XV6700 features a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Windows Mobile 5, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and EV-DO, a protocol for high-speed wireless broadband. The smartphone also has a 1.3-megapixel camera and a speakerphone. The repair of this phone will require a few everyday household tools.

Identification

The black and silver XV6700 is easily distinguished from Sprint's all-silver version. At 5.2" x 2.3' x 1.0", the XV6700 cannot be considered a compact device, but it will easily fit into a purse or backpack. The updated version, the XV6800, added a higher-resolution camera, GPS, scroll wheel, and additional hard keys.
