Background and Identification
The Xiaomi Amazfit Bip is marketed as a smartwatch for sports and was released in 2017. The watch launched in the U.S. in early 2018 and came to the U.K. several months later. Amazfit is a brand within Huami, which is Xiaomi’s wearables supplier. It was released in white, red, grey, and black bodies. Additional white, black, dark blue, and grey straps can replace the original watch band. The Amazfit Bip has a polycarbonate body and a 1.28-inch screen.
The Amazfit Bip has IP68 dust-resistance and water-resistance in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. It has a color LCD display with a resolution of 176 by 176 pixels. It also has a reflective panel that allows the user to see the time while the watch is on standby. The watch features heart rate, accelerometer, barometer sensors as well as a GPS + GLONASS module. The 4.0 version includes Bluetooth capabilities.
The Amazfit Bip includes 1 MB of RAM memory and 4 MB of internal storage. It also contains a 190 mAh battery that is advertised to last 45 days of use at a 10 percent brightness setting.
A TechRadar review found that the Amazfit Bip has excellent battery life but found that the watch’s auto-pause feature does not work and the user-interface is subpar.
