What is this thing?
Basic Description
The Iriver Clix is a small portable media player released in late May of 2006, as the second product in a short line of similar media players from Iriver. It may not have a touchscreen, but it does use a patented input operation called the "D-click" system, where operations can only be done by pressing and/or holding down on any of the 4 sides of the screen, to navigate and perform any desired functions. (This system would be used later in newer media players)
capabilities
The Clix goes beyond the standards of other media players, which are your typical capabilities of listening to audio and video, making music playlists, and viewing uploaded images/pictures. The Clix allows users to view Unicode text files, listen to the radio on-the-go with its built-in FM tuner, make voice AND FM recordings with it's built-in microphone, and even play Flash Lite games and animation.
Special Features
One of the few unique sound features of the Iriver Clix is 3D sound technology, using SRS WOW, and Custom EQ settings so users can tune the audio to whatever they prefer. Another special feature is a special button on its side called the Smart Key, which can be augmented to conveniently perform a feature of your choice once pressed.
Acessories
For accessories, the Clix has your usual carrying case with an arm band, and a charging dock. The dock in question, however, comes with features that aren't normal to be part of it. Unlike the proprietary connector that the Clix normally uses, the dock is a mini USB converter, so you can charge it and sync it with the more common (and thus more reliable)standard. Other characteristics of the dock are built-in stereo speakers, additional line in (for external speakers or microphone), a snooze button at the top so it can be used like an alarm clock, and a remote control for wireless navigation from the dock.
