Sometimes, the power switch can become jammed or broken. This guide will show how to take the housing apart and replace the power switch within the Black and Decker BDH9600CHV.

One thing to be aware of would be that the screws are deep within the outside of the housing so an extender could be needed to reach the screws

    • To remove the filter and housing, press the green button labeled "Filter".

    • Unscrew and remove all 5 screws using the Phillips 0 screw bit. Each screw is 17.5 mm long.

    • Pull the housing apart.

    • When you pull the housing apart, pieces may fall out. Be sure to track of the parts and where they go.

    • Remove the switch by pulling it out.

    • Replace the new switch by sliding the replacement switch onto the top of the switch mechanism located on the motor.

    Where can you buy the replacement power switch?

    B&D CHV1410- I didn't locate one replacement switch, available to purchase, anywhere. But I was able to pry apart and re-align power switch slide to allow it to slide correctly to activate the electronic button switch inside the unit. I had to remove 6 screws, could not work out a way to remove the screw on the inner shroud, to split open the halves completely, but my 'no power up' situation was not really the electronic switch, so it worked out from me. The plastic slide was just a bit off track which I corrected once I could remove the upper cover for the plastic slide (I forced it up and out, and likewise back in before I closed it up and secured halves with the screws again.
