Use this guide to replace the cable in a General Wire Drain Cleaner RSVD 2014.

    • Turn off the drain cleaner and disconnect it from power before beginning any maintenance.

    • Slide the rubber cable cover off of the end of the cable.

    • Use a flathead screwdriver to loosen the three screws around the edge of the front assembly.

    • Pull the front assembly off of the drain cleaner and slide it over the cable to remove it.

    • During reassembly, make sure the three screws on the front assembly line up with the slots on both the metal cable container back and the plastic cable container.

    • Slide the plastic cable container out of the metal container back.

    What does the hook connect to? How about a picture of that?

    • Pull the cable out of the plastic cable container.

    • During reassembly, make sure to insert the end of the cable with the hook (as shown in the third photo) first, then coil the rest of the cable into the container in a counter-clockwise fashion.

    this is the worst instruction guide ever, how do you reassemble the cable? where do you attach the hook to? or do you just stick it in hoping it catches on something? can you please explain that part? thank you.

    Not much help here. The tool is broke the cable is gone what the @#$!% does the hook go or do you just cram it in there? What about the two flat things that screw on to the outside of the snout, is that what keeps the whole cable from coming out? Does the hook snag on to them? You need to write as if the person reading your instructions has no experience. You cant assume anything.

    The cable is not commonly attached in the drum. This unit is hand feed into a line and the cable grippers are the only thing that holds the cable in place.
