The ice bucket serves to store the ice that the ice maker produces. The ice bucket also contains the ice auger.
If the auger fails, the refrigerator will not dispense ice through the freezer door. If the bucket fails, your Ice maker may not work properly, and you may have ice chips in the freezer area.
