Use this guide to remove and replace the bearings and blade shaft in the Little Wonder 4 HP Honda Pro Edger 62320001 Rev B.

    • Before you begin, make sure the edger is switched off and the red throttle adjuster is in the disengaged position. Disconnect the spark plug.

    • Move the blade adjusting lever down into the raised position.

    • Lift the belt slackener lever to take tensions off the belts.

    • Secure it in the slackened position.

    • Use a 3/8 inch socket and ratchet to remove the two bolts securing the belt guard.

    • Slide the belt guard forward and away from the belt pulley.

    • Slide the guard to the side, away from the wheels to expose the belts.

    • Slide the inner belt toward the wheel and off of the pulley.

    • Slide the outer belt across the pulley, toward the wheel, and off of the pulley.

    • Slide both belts away from the engine and off of the pulleys.

    • Remove both belts.

    • Use a 1/2 inch socket to remove the belt guard bolt.

    • Remove the belt guard.

    • Move the blade adjusting lever up into the lowered position to lower the blade.

    • Use a 3/4 inch socket and ratchet to remove the nut securing the blade.

    • Brace the left side of the blade against the ground in order to loosen the nut. Brace the right side of the blade against the ground for tightening.

    • Remove the outer blade washer.

    • Remove the blade

    • Remove the inner blade washer.

    • Use a 9/16 inch socket and ratchet to remove the bolt securing the wheels.

    • Remove the wheels.

    • As you remove the wheels, a washer may fall out. Don't forget to reinstall this during reassembly.

    • Use a 5/32 hex key to loosen the two set screws securing the belt pulley.

    • Slide the belt pulley off of the blade shaft.

    • Use pliers to remove the blade shaft key.

    • Use snap ring pliers to remove the snap ring on the side of the blade shaft closest to the engine.

    • Use a mallet to tap the side of the blade shaft farthest from the engine until you can slide the blade shaft out.

    • Remove the blade shaft.

    • One of the bearings will come out on the blade shaft and can be removed from the shaft if you don't plan on replacing the shaft with the bearings.

    • Use a punch, bearing puller, or a large socket on the side of the cutter head closest to the engine to tap out the second bearing.

    • Remove the bearing.

    • During reassembly, use a bearing press, or follow the following sequence of steps to install the new bearings and blade shaft before continuing with reassembly.

    • Use a mallet to install the bearing closest to the engine first.

    • Reinstall the snap ring on the blade shaft.

    • Tap the blade shaft back into the cutter head, starting from the side closest to the engine.

    • Reinstall the old key in the new shaft. If your shaft came with a new key, use the old key for this process, then replace it with the new key.

    • Set the second new bearing in the side of the cutter head farthest from the engine.

    • Reinstall the blade and both washers.

    • Use an adjustable wrench to hold the shaft in place. At the same time, use a 3/4 inch socket and a ratchet to tighten the blade nut and push the bearing into the cutter head.
