If your Nikon Coolpix P90 camera's flash bulb does not fire correctly, use this guide to replace it. This guide will help your flash bulb fire with ease.
For this guide, you will need the iFixit Opening Tool, a Phillips #000 Screwdriver, and a Soldering Iron 60w Hakko 503F. For more information on where to buy these items, check the "What you need" section. The only special skill required is soldering, so be sure to read the regulations and precautions prior to using.
Before beginning the replacement process, make sure to power off your camera completely by removing the battery and disconnecting from any external power source. Step 1 explains how to do this.

Use your finger to push the notch of the compartment door to the center of the camera body.

Release the compartment door, and it will swing open.

Remove the existing battery with your fingers.

Press the button located on the top-right side of the camera's body to open the flash compartment.

Position camera as seen in the image here. This will make using the tools much easier.

Using a Phillips #000 Precision Screwdriver, remove the two 3.0 mm screws from inside the flash compartment.

Place the Plastic Opening Tool along the crack on the side of the flash compartment cover.

Use this to pry open and detach the cover.

Using a Phillips #000 Precision Screwdriver, remove the 4.0 mm screw from the plastic cover.

Once the screw is removed, detach the plastic cover.

Carefully remove the flash bulb holder with your fingers. (Use image as a reference.)

The flash bulb holder is the black, cylinder cartridge.

Using the end of the Plastic Opening Tool, pry the metal bulb frame out of the socket. (See image for reference.)

Once metal bulb frame is removed from the holder, remove the plastic stoppers on both sides of the metal flash bulb tray.

Use your fingers, both plastic stoppers should pop off with ease.

Using a Soldering Iron, desolder each of the wires connected to the light bulb.

Give wires a few minutes to cool before reassembling the camera to avoid damage to any device components.
