If you are brave enough steps 7-14 can be avoided, i literally just replaced this power switch skipping 7-14 because the ribbon cable is long and flexible enough to put in, but do not screw the power board into place while doing this makes it a lot easier.

    • Lift the home bar up as high as it will go, but not so high that the wires disconnect.

    • Try to bend the small tab under the silver rim as little as possible it the following steps. The more you bend, the more likely it will snap.

    • Twist the home bar counter clockwise while carefully lifting it further. The left edge has to lift over the black plastic frame to allow it to rotate.

    • The home bar should now lift out of the PSP 300xc.

Left part of silver rim can be removed at this point (as in step 27) to make it easy to remove the home bar.

I wish I read this comment 5 minutes ago! The retaining clip on my homebar weakened and broke as it was under that silver rim. Hopefully some careful application of superglue with a toothpick can hold it in place :D
