This guide shows how to remove and replace the door sensors in your Samsung RF28R7201SG refrigerator.

The Samsung fridge uses a magnetic reed switch for each French door. If these sensors fail, the refrigerator will think a door is always open or closed.

    • Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the three 18.5 mm-long screws securing the hinge cover on the top of the refrigerator.

    • Lift the edges of the hinge cover to loosen it from the refrigerator.

    • Don't try to fully remove the cover, as it's still attached to the refrigerator by a few cables.

    • Flip the hinge cover over to access the cables underneath.

    • Use your fingers to squeeze and disconnect the blue wire connector.

    • Use your fingers to squeeze and disconnect the white wire connector.

    • The hinge cover has two door sensors:

    • The left door sensor

    • The left door sensor connector

    • The right door sensor

    • The right door sensor connector

    • Depending on your situation, you may need to replace either or both sensors.

    • Use your fingers to squeeze and disconnect the sensor cable connector.

    • Use a spudger or a flathead screwdriver to pry the sensor out of its retaining clips.
