Introduzione

This guide shows how to replace the evaporator thermistor in your Samsung refrigerator.

Some Samsung refrigerators have two evaporators: one for the refrigerator compartment and one for the freezer. This guide is for the refrigerator evaporator thermistor.

This thermistor does not sense the refrigerator compartment temperature. Rather, this thermistor senses the evaporator coil temperature. If this thermistor fails, your refrigerator won't cool the refrigerator compartment properly.

This guide will work for most Samsung Refrigerators . This guide is based on a model RF28R7201SG Refrigerator. If you have a different model, you may encounter some minor disassembly differences, but the overall repair process will be the same

    • Grasp the right edge of the evaporator cover with your hands and swing it outwards toward you.

    • Don't try to fully remove the cover in this step, as it's connected by several wires.

if you see signs of ice buildup, let things thaw before you go further- in my case, the evaporator coils were covered with ice, which had reached the point where it was hitting the fan blades. My whole cover was frozen in place, which made removing it without wrecking the Styrofoam insulation very difficult.

    • Pull the evaporator cover towards you and remove it.

If your issue is ice build-up, the evaporator cover may be frozen in place. If you can, leave the fridge open and let things thaw for a while before you try to open it (and the ice might be your whole problem anyway, so you may solve the problem right there)
