    • La procedura per rimuovere le candele di accensione è la stessa per entrambi i cilindri, non ha importanza quale candela sostituirai per prima. Questa guida illustrerà come rimuovere e installare la candela di accensione nel cilindro posteriore.

    • Usa una bussola per candele da 11/16" per svitare la candela di accensione. Ruota in senso antiorario.

    • Alcune candele di accensione aftermarket compatibili con la Sportster richiedono una bussola leggermente più grande, da 18 mm.

    • Rimuovi la candela di accensione dal cilindro.

    • Verifica sempre la candela nuova prima dell'installazione. Misura la distanza fra gli elettrodi della candela nuova con uno spessimetro. Dovrebbe misurare .040 pollici (1,02 mm).

    • Assicurati che la guarnizione metallica e l'adattatore del terminale siano al loro posto.

    Pro tip, add some anti seize compound to the plug threads or the plugs may seize in the cylinder head next time you remove them.

    • Installa la candela nell'alloggiamento usando le dita e avvitala manualmente fino a che non fa una buona resistenza.

    • Avvita la candela secondo le specifiche della casa madre utilizzando una chiave dinamometrica.

    • La coppia di serraggio è importante quando si installa una candela di accensione. Se è troppo bassa, la candela può svitarsi con le vibrazioni o causare perdite di pressione, se è troppo forte può spanare la testata del cilindro. La coppia di serraggio corretta per questa candela è tra i 10,2 e 13,5 Nm (1,04-1,38 Kgm).

    I have a Harley Davidson Xr1200x Sportster which I just got. Changed the oil also tranny & filter as I couldn't find last date of service coang of oil. So yesterday I checked the spark plugs they were clean. But the mechanic cleaned them & said the needed gap them as one was too narrow. Mind you I had no issues at all. Gapped them at 0.40 now I'm not getting the same smooth sound or feel as if it's miss firing. I have iridium spark plugs okn my bike should I change them to NGK or get another set of iridium spark plugs.please advise..

    A spark plug Gap is to be checked with a wire feeler gauge, not a flat feeler gauge….

Just for information, particularly in the UK, you may be able to purchase sparking plugs cheaper at a Chandlers, as there are quite a few 4-stroke outboard engines use these plugs.

Can anyone tell me if a 1999 sporster has a data link connector port . my bike would not start the coil was bad replaced it now no spark at all can anyone help
