Great news. I robbed new hose from the hard floor attachment that I never use ! Love this vacuum and the tutorial was very helpful.

I just took everything apart from main head and hard wood floor head to replace hose like u fucken said and the hose is a different size (to big) and won’t fit. thanks for nothing.

I can confirm after destroying my hard floor cleaner - the hoses are DIFFERENT SIZES!!!!

I am not able to find this part “Hoze" for my Shark Rocket HV300.

I will try Lowes tomorrow.

I’ve purchased 2 shark rockets. The 1st Hv 301-40 the 2nd Hv325. After about a year use of each the hose is torn. I called Shark for replacement hoses and was told I need to purchase entire new vacuum head. I think this is ridiculous. All because of a hose? Anyways. The reason I purchased 2nd vacuum was due to torn hose on the original shark vacuum head. I love my shark rockets but I am tired of replacing vacuum yrly all because of a hose. I’m beginning to believe Shark isn’t as good as I believe it to be

The hose from the hard floor attachment is wider than the vacuum hose. I managed to get it pretty tight but ROUGH! I think the suction is compromised

Another day of my life that I will NEVER get back. While this forray into vacuum cleaner repair was moderately successful, it sure would have been nice to be able to wander down to the vacuum cleaner parts store and just buy this part without all the drama. Yes, the Home Depot hose did work, it’s not exactly the same size but it’s usable (don’t bother with Lowes. It doesn’t work). You have to buy 6’ of washing machine drain hose, otherwise noted in this atricle, but you’ll be neeeding it, trust me. Apparently the Shark Corporation has decided that you should buy a new vacuum once a year, and that may be the way we go going forward. My wife really likes it and that’s the end game here, i’m stuck. I spent a total of about 6 hours on this. It’s not likely that I will be doing it again without a steak dinner and a really nice trail of rose petals leading…. well….. that way…

This was a great tutorial. I used this info to replace the hose on a Shark Rocket Deluxe Pro (model HV324). Besides a few extra screws installation was spot on. I used the hose from Home Depot (EVERBILT 6 ft Bilge and Pump Discharge Hose. 1-1/8 inch). The wife says it works better than ever. The hose knows…

I need to replace the hose on the carpet attachment and found I needed Hex set. So I bought a 8 pc. Hex Temper Resist L- WR set with the smallest at 3/8”. It seems to be to big to remove the screws on the neck of the carpet attachment. Any suggestions?

I used the HD 1-1/8” Bilge Pump hose to repair our HV322’s split hose. The lower hose I bought on-line for a Shark HV322 was 1-1/4” (too big). Unsure why some posts conflict on the hose diameter. The original hose is screwed into both ends left handed threads & is glued with a rubber cement type adhesive. I used a heat gun to soften the adhesive by just blowing hot air thru the hose. It made unscrewing the old hose much easier. The HD Bilge hose is ribbed not spiral wire reinforced like the original but it does thread in ok. Looked like a good fix when I reassembled the vacuum time will tell. Thanks for the help! Mike

Were it not for this post, I would NEVER have been able to repair my Shark Rocket PetVac. I purchased a replacement hose but couldn’t install it. My vacuum was slightly different from the one shown but the same principle applied. I’m a 70 year old female and not very mechanical. Thanks!!

What is recommended to attach the ends of the hose.  I saw a recommendation for rubber cement.  Any other ideas?

The article title says Shark Rocket 301 - those complaining about other models need to learn to read. In any case, in Canada, the hose needed is Canada Tubing Bilge Pump Hose, 1 1/8 Inch Diameter X 6 Ft Length from Home Depot (there’s another brand at Canadian Tire looks exactly the same twice the price).  I left the stiff end on for the upper connection and screwed the other end into the threaded fitting at the other end.  The stiff end slides back and forth as you tilt the head and this relieves the stretch/tear.

I have a Shark tru pet market del hv320w and this is the second time the hose has split. Bought whole new head last time. Do you know what tool I need to get screws out. They are not Phillips. I have the bilge hose to do replacement. I’m hoping you can help me.

If they’re not Philips then probably torx - if you have a local mechanic or mechanical buddy have them look at it.

Thank you for the tutorial, was able to take apart the whole bottom part. There is a few screws you did not list, and also forgot to mention some are longer than others, again some are thicker than others as well. Anyways, could not find the 1-1/8” ID hose another user mentioned, I bought the EASTMAN 1-5/8-in x 6-ft PVC Bilge Pump Discharge Tubing from Lowe’s. The plastic is soft so it was able to tread in for the most part, tube was a little big, has a 1-1/4” ID, you need just a hair smaller (1-1/8”) for a perfect fit. Vacuum works now, thank you.

no info on removing old hose and replacing w new one. also the top did not come off as described. i would give a 50% rating and thats generous.

also i found the hose on ebay for 9 bucks and its much heavier duty than the junk one they put on originally.

theres other tips the guy who did the instructions could have done like make sure parts are lined up including the new hose. to be honest the instructions are done half assed at best.

the instructor only missed the screw amount by three.

the instructor also forgot to mention that when the case is opened dust and dirt will go everywhere. i see they use a brand new one in the tutorial.

I tried to find and order this hose to no avail. I found a forum that said use the hose off of your hard floor head so I got excited about that and tried it. It was too big. I found and bought a hose that measured to what I thought worked but, again, was too big (barely). Could not find any parts schematic for the HV301 anywhere. Came across this forum and was thinking the same thing as others - were do you find the hose. Nick to the rescue. The ironic thing is I already had this hose in my garage. I cut the hose to 6” and worked perfect. < EVERBILT 6 ft Bilge and Pump Discharge Hose. 1-1/8 inch ID. Got it at Home Depot.> This will run about 10$ and you will have way more than you need incase this happens again!!

The large hose threads are reversed. I had trouble removing and installing the hose until I realized. It made the process so much easier.

After replacing the hose it doesn't have the suction anymore.

How do you prevent the split to begin with? I’ve replaced 6 hoses in the last 2 years and the current hose only lasted a month.

This article was incredibly helpful. A couple of points:

1. when removing screws, keep track of where they go, one is longer than the others

2. There is a sixth screw underneath the brush cover.

3. It is VERY hard to get the old hose out. I had to unravel it in sections. It screws in, but might have been glued in originally.

4. If you use the Everbilt Bilge Hose (which does fit) note that it does not include a wire inside to strengthen it, nor do the ribs match the contours of where it is supposed to screw into each end. So you just have to force it in (I used needle nose pliers to pull it through). I also wrapped duct tape around the middle of the hose (do not do this on the ends otherwise it won’t fit into the sleeves) to strengthen it.

On Step 4, it is very difficult to separate the top and bottom half. I had to pry screwdrivers in there to pop it apart, it takes a lot of force. Also, on Step 5, I didn’t totally separate the top from the bottom, there’s plenty of room to work the hose in.

You DO NOT have to remove the tiny front wheels or rollers! You also do not have to remove the whole top and disconnect that electronic connection. BUT what you need to know is to disconnect the hose from the lower end it requires no force if you get a small flat screwdriver underneath the collar and give it a pop. When putting in the new bilge pump hose, cut off the straight non ribbed portion of it and discard. Connect it to the top piece first by twisting COUNTER CLOCKWISE. Sorry I didn’t measure the length for you so you’ll have to guess at it. Then insert it into the bottom collar also Counter Clockwise until you’re unable to twist it. Getting it back together is a little tricky too especially snapping all that plastic together. It will go just make sure the top piece with the hose fits Those grooves. I also don’t think you need to remove that screw and whit plastic clip in Diagram #5 either.

So how to I actually replace the hose? Plus I see absolutely no need to take off the small front wheels what is the point of that?

Apparently torx screws on my shark vacuum so can’t get out. Can I find the right torx screwdriver to remove? Don’t want to waste money and get wrong one already bought replacement hose from eBay. Can’t believe manufacturers are allowed to do this, creating more landfill. Determined not to give up and to fix my vacuum, not buy a replacement! Help appreciated.

I'm looking for hard floor surface attachment

Having had the same issue with my Shark, I went into my bag of tricks and found this: https://www.mcmaster.com/5136K11/ It is a clear flexible hose with a left hand wind, 1 7/16 outer diameter and it’s only $3.40 per foot. I bought a foot (which is the minimum buy) so I’ll have two hoses. McMaster delivers overnight. Shipping is a bit on the high side - $8.64 and it will probably vary depending on where you live, but it’s the perfect fit and well worth it - it screws right into the fittings on either end. I don’t work for McMaster but when I worked as a design engineer they were the “go to” place when you needed something “sooner than possible”. If they don’t have it, you probably don’t need it. How in the heck do you screw the hose into smaller threaded fitting?

Using these instructions and even the comments about the additional screws and I couldn’t get it apart enough to get the hose out. Ended up having to pry it unnaturally so much that now I’m giving up. Going to buy a new one of the same though as it was a great vacuum for four years for us and is only about $150.

Great instructions! But if you can give the length of the hose please. Ordered mine from your site, through Amazon and comes in a random length. My hose which, I replaced had to cut down 2x's to make it fit correctly. My hose pulled out in pieces and could not measure. Otherwise, I did it with the easy instructions. Thank you.

Remember: the hose tightens and loosens opposite to a light bulb. Remember: "righty tighty, lefty loosey?" It's the OTHER way: counter-clockwise to tighten, clockwise rotation to loosen.

I have Shark "HV301 26", which has differences from the one in the steps:

* I needed Torx T3 and Torx T4 screwdrivers, instead of Phillips

* I had to remove a total of 10 screws: the 5 shown in Step 1, which were actually Torx T4 not Phillips #1; two more right next to the big wheels, which were Torx T3 (these were not circled in the picture in Step 1, but they're just below the top two that are circled in that picture); 3 more T4 screws that are under the plate covering the roller brush that's removed in Step 3

* I did not need to remove the small wheels (Step 1)

* There was no internal Phillips #2 screw as described in Step 5, so I didn't need to do anything for Step 5 except unplug the cable.

Note:

* I used the flexible hose recommended by Kevin Spink (thanks Kevin!): https://www.mcmaster.com/5136K11/ This is, as far as I can tell, exactly the same as the original hose, including a reinforcing wire inside the tube, and easily screws in. If you use this tube, make sure you have something to cut a strong wire.

Additional notes:

* I originally tried using Flex Tape instead of replacing the hose. It was hard to wrap around the hose due to the awkward position of the tear, so it didn't stick well or last long.

* It's easier to remove the gray cover if you slip guitar picks (or these iFixit Opening Picks (Set of 6)) in the cracks between the gray cover and the orange and clear bottom sections.

* There is some glue holding the original hose inside the vacuum stick. I needed needle nose pliers to get a good enough grip on the hose to remove it.

* The hose needs to be twisted clockwise to remove it from the stick and from the dark gray end of the hose that attaches to the roller brush chamber

* When reinserting the dark gray end of the hose into the roller brush chamber, don't push it too far in. Otherwise, the orange roller brush cover will be blocked by the protruding dark gray end and won't close completely.

* The total length of the hose was about 6 inches

A note to Reassembly- be very careful that the 3 wires coming out by the right wheel are tucked into the protective guide hole on the wand end.(1/2" circular hole with slit for wires) Then when you seat the assembly in the body they're not pinching and still in the guide hole.
I had to do a repair because I had previously not paid attention to the wires and the power wire pinched apart when I replaced the hose.
