Use this guide to replace the water filter housing in your Whirlpool WRS315SDHW Refrigerator.

The water filter housing stores the water filter and connects it to the water inlet valve assembly.

Note: Some photos show the doors removed for clarity purposes. Removing them is not required and will not change the procedure.

    • Before you begin your repair, perform the following:

    • Turn off your main water supply

    • Unplug your device

    • Depending on your repair, open one or both doors.

    • Use a Phillips driver to remove the two 15.2 mm-long screws securing the front panel.

    • Pull the front panel straight off the chassis and remove it.

    • You may have to slightly open the water filter door to remove the front panel completely.

    • Use a 1/4 inch socket wrench to remove the two 18.9 mm-long screws securing the water filter housing.

    • Use a 1/4 inch socket wrench, or a flathead screwdriver, to remove the 15.6 mm-long screw securing the wire harness grounding wire.

    • Pull the housing out of the chassis enough to access its left-hand water connections.

    • Place a clean and dry rag under the water hoses.

    • Use needle nose pliers, or your fingers, to remove the blue clip on the bottom water hose.

    • Repeat for the red clip on the top water hose.

    • Compress the plastic ring near the end of the water hose.

    • While compressing the ring, pull the hose away from the ring to disconnect it.

    • Repeat for the other water hose.

    • Remove the water filter housing.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
