My name is Hailey Valencia, and I am a student at Austin Community College. I am currently seeking a major in applied science as an accounting technician full charge bookkeeper. Ultimately, I would like to be a work-from-home mom that is in charge of my own schedule while helping provide for my family. My dream is to be able to go on all the field trips and vacations that I can with my family. I think exploring the world is important for self-development. At least that’s what I tell my husband when I want to plan another trip!
When I was a child, I was able to spend a lot of time with my dad on the job site. He was and still is a carpenter. He loved getting to teach me how to be self-sufficient. He always told me, “You don’t need a man to fix things for you if you already know how to do it.” Now that I am all grown up, I have been putting these skills to use. In fact, last year while I was 6 months pregnant, I built my own deck for the back of my house and assembled a pergola to boot. My husband and I have a deal that I do the house repairs and projects and he does the car repairs and maintenance. However, that does not stop us from helping each other out in one area or another.

Eventually, I would like to remodel the inside of my house, but that will be when my child gets older! As far as repair projects go, I may not know a lot about electric repairs but everything else is fair game. If I don’t know how to fix something I will find out one way or another. I love to learn new things; it keeps my mind fresh and helps me feel accomplished.
