Hello there, I am an undergraduate student majoring in environmental resources management at California State University, Bakersfield. I also hold an Associates of Arts in liberal studies at Bakersfield College.
After obtaining my bachelor’s degree, I plan on continuing my schooling to get my master’s degree. After receiving my degrees, I hope to get a job doing consulting for either a private or public firm. While I enjoy working in front of a computer, I enjoy being outdoors even more so. Because of this, I am hoping to find a job where I can work both indoors and out.
One of my main interests is in horticulture, and I completed many courses in this field of study at El Camino College. My hope is that I can utilize this knowledge in the environmental resources management degree to help better manage our natural resources. I was very inspired to see what a huge difference it makes on the environment when we learn to fix our damaged things instead of throwing them in landfills.
Although I have yet to complete a repair guide for someone, I love working with my hands and learning how things work, so I am very excited to be part of the iFixit project. I have a 3 year old daughter and two cats, so stuff gets broken a lot around the house and I am constantly fixing things. I have fixed various dishes, ripped clothing, damaged books and toys. In addition to these smaller fixes, I have also replaced a damaged valve cover gasket in my old car, fixed my cars broken side mirror, repaired various pieces of wood furniture and planter boxes, as well as a JBL speaker’s charging port. I’m excited to see how this project will help me learn more about fixing things, as well as inspire others to gain the confidence to fix their own stuff and help reduce our waste.
