Cheshire West and Chester is an unitary authority in North West England at latitude 53°08′38.82″ North, longitude 2°21′45.50″ West.

Cheshire West and Chester unitary authority was formed 1 April 2009 replacing the previous two-tier system of county and district councils. It replaced the county council of Cheshire and the three district councils of Ellesmere Port and Neston, Vale Royal and Chester District.

Together with the unitary authorities of Cheshire East, Halton and Warrington it forms the ceremonial county of Cheshire.
