Code structure

Postal codes contain 6 digits, being:

The first 2 digits to identify the department.
The following 2 to identify the postal zone (In Bogotá they are the localities).
Finally the last 2 correspond to the postal district.

All postal codes and their limits can be consulted through the de 4-72 .

There are also other postal codes:

At municipality level with 5-digit.
Expanded postal codes (9 digits), however we do not map this kind of postal code in OSM, since they correspond to the blocks.

Postal codes can be added:

To addresses using: addr:postcode=*.
Creating boundaries by boundary=postal_code. In this case it will be necessary to create relationships and add boundary segments. The relationship is created with the tags type=boundary, boundary=postal_code and name=*, where name would be composed of the words "Postal code " followed by the code of 6 digits. For the components of the relationship, in many cases administrative boundaries may serve. If you need another way, it is created with the tags boundary=postal_code and name=*, where name has the value of the two postal codes that it divides, separated by a hyphen: name=111321-111322. These ways must be independent of any object (rivers, roads, paths, areas).
