Strongly Discouraged

Distributed Rendering / Computing
Installing and making large web applications publicly available. (e.g. phpMyAdmin, MediaWiki, etc.)
Own copies of the official Planet.osm from https://planet.openstreetmap.org/

Note

You are responsible for the security of any applications you install or make available. (including web applications)
Use the shared Planet.osm folder. /data/planet/ (Update on 2011/07/11: Since the planet server was moved to a different site, this is no longer available. A local mirror may be setup at some point.)
