Grass

Grass could be referring to...

• A type of vegetation which we might want to map. Tags which might be used to map grass:
  • to indicate physically covered land:
    • landuse=grass A tag for a smaller areas of mown and managed grass, there are also many instances of landuse=grass used for any areas of grass some view this as controversial.
    • landcover=grass (see also Proposed features/landcover as it intends to replace landuse=grass)
  • to indicate human use of land:
    • landuse=farmland (with e.g. produce=turf where the grass is harvested for transplant elsewhere)
    • landuse=meadow
  • to indicate the (natural) geographic feature of an area, with minimal human intervention:
    • natural=fell,
    • natural=grass,
    • natural=grassland (see also Proposed features/Grassland)
  • as additional info to be used with other physical tags:
    • surface=grass
