Ideas in Transit
Ideas in Transit was a five-year project running from October 2007 to September 2012 that applied User Innovation to the transport challenges faced by individuals and society. It was a unique collaboration between Government, Commercial and Academic thought leaders and their networks. It aimed to influence intelligent transport decisions at policy, social, personal and commercial levels.
OpenStreetMap related activity
Ideas in Transit has supported the following OpenStreetMap related research.
- Development and operation of OSM Mapper by ITO World
- Facilitation and support of the NaPTAN import which is adding details of 350,000 bus stops, ferry terminals etc to OSM from the official DfT dataset.
- Development of OpenStreetMap 2008 - A year of edits by ITO World.
- Development of the Ideas in Transit wiki with details of many OpenStreetMap related innovations.
- Research PhD: 'Assessing Value in VGI Systems'
- OSM and OSL differences tileset and OSM and OSL differences analysis using OS Locator files.
- Experiments with modeling past and future transport systems. Peter Miller will be presenting a talk about this at State Of The Map 2010. See also the associated Coachway vision project.
- A project to use subjective information in routing decisions and to target funds for infrastructure improvements effectively.
- Airspace rebooted animation using OSM data as a backdrop.
