Purpose

The purpose behind this page is to

act as a central listing of all sources of open data within Ireland
document, where necessary, permission to use the data held by these sources for the improvement of OpenStreetMap data covering the island of Ireland

Licences

Following publication of Circular 12/16, the standard Irish Government PSI licence is Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY), which is an open licence.

Any Open Data portal offering content under CC-BY 4.0 requires special permission to use the data within OSM in order to meet the "BY" requirement. This requirement is met by listing the data provider on the Contributor Page; however, this requires the agreement of the provider that this meets the "BY" requirement of the CC-BY 4.0 licence for them.

Details on other licences will be documented here as they are identified. In some cases, it may not be possible to use the data due to certain licensing

Attribution

As per the requirements of the Open Data Technical Framework, the following is required for attribution. Where publishers list a different attribution statement, it will be documented in the publisher table below

Under the CC-BY Licence, users must acknowledge the source of the Information in their product or application. Where the Information Provider does not provide a specific attribution statement, users should include, or link to, this attribution statement: “Contains Irish Public Sector Data licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license”.
