MapSurfer.NET

MapSurfer.NET is a framework for rendering and publishing geospatial data to a map. It was developed by Maxim Rylov (User:Runge). The framework provides an opportunity to be used both in desktop and web applications. MapSurfer.NET is based on some standards of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) (e.g. Styled Layer Descriptor, Symbology Encoding, etc.) and has a lot of custom extensions. Two different types of web services can be used to publish maps to the web. They are Web Map Service (WMS) and Tile Map Service (TMS). Note that only basic functionality is implemented in both services. MapSurfer.NET web map services can be hosted in different web servers like Internet Information Services (IIS) or UltiDev. The framework currently runs on both Windows and Linux platforms. On Windows it requires .NET Framework 4.5 and Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable to be installed. In case of Linux, Mono platform is required.
