Navigation Data Standard
The Navigation Data Standard (NDS) is the aim to create a new standard for maps to provide one file format for all navigation devices.
This would (theoretically) allow to switch database vendors.
File Structure
The planet is devided into several update regions (usually countries). Each of them consists of several databases with all information for the Building Block (e.g. map, pois, tmc, drm, ...). This allows an incremental update by area.
Features
- incremental data (map, poi, ...) update
- update e.g. over the air
- DRM
