Identification

The HP 2000 2d22DX is a very traditional laptop and can easily be confused with many other devices within the HP 2000 series. It has a polycarbonate plastic outer layer with a glossy, "black-licorice" finish. If your model number is not: HP 2000-2D22DX and, instead, it is something like: HP 2000-2DC22DX or HP 2000-2DE22DX, this is the correct device page. The color of the top cover for this laptop can be either black or grey.

Here is a list of some of the many model numbers that you may or may not have, but are identical to the laptop model number described above: (the model numbers can randomly vary)

  • HP 2000-2b20NR
  • HP 2000-2202TU
  • HP 2000-2b19wm
  • HP 2000-2D78Sr
  • HP 2000-2
  • HP 2000T-2
  • HP 2000-427CL
  • HP 2000Z-2

On Windows: To determine whether or not this is the appropriate device page, first check the original packaging of your device to see if the model number is correct. If the original packaging is not available to you, open the System Information window (Fn + Esc keys) and identify the device using the information in that window.

On Linux (Debian-Based Distributions): Open up the terminal as root and type the following: dmidecode -s system-serial-number and press Enter. The device serial number will appear. Then, go to the HP support site where you can type in your device serial number and copy and paste the serial number from the terminal into the box and press Enter. It will show up with either the same model number as the one described above, or it will show something similar. (Make sure that the package: dmidecode is installed on your Linux distribution before executing this command.)
