Background and Identification
SDI Technologies is a New Jersey-based consumer electronics manufacturer whose products are marketed under multiple national brands, including Timex, Sylvania, eKids, New Balance, KIDdesigns, and iHome. SDI Technologies used to market under the Soundesign brand, which is now defunct. iHome was created in 2005 as the flagship brand of SDI Technologies producing docking stations, headphones, smart home devices, and other accessories.
iHome speakers are able to stream music over Apple AirPlay, Bluetooth, and via a wired connection. Some iHome systems can also act as a charging station for many devices when connected, in addition to playing music wirelessly. iHome speakers are compatible with a range of smartphones, MP3 players, iPods, tablets, and other devices. Some iHome accessories can act as a docking station so users with tablets can use a physical keyboard rather than on-screen keyboards provided with many devices. The iHome brand also produces several smart home accessories like smart outlets and motion detectors that are compatible with Wink, Apple HomeKit, Samsung SmartThings and other home systems.
The first iHome product was an iPod-docking clock radio which was the top-selling iPod accessory for the year and established iHome as the premier brand in the audio accessories market. iHome offers lines of alarm clocks, portable speakers, Bluetooth vanity mirrors, sleep therapy wellness products, and a line of smart home, smartphone, and tablet products.
