Upgrades
There are many components in the PowerBook G3 400 that can be upgraded for a reasonable cost.
- Hard Drive: Ifixit carries the tools and intstructions to replace your hard drive with a new hard drive.
- RAM: The PowerBook comes with a standard 64 MB RAM chip and an extra ram slot that can be filled with two 512 MB RAM chips to give the computer 1 GB of RAM total.
Background
The PowerBook G3 400 is available with a 400 MHz Processor and a 6 GB or 10 GB hard drive. This laptop is the first PowerBook to offer AirPort networking as an option.
The G3 400 is the last of the G3 line, which was succeeded by the PowerBook G4.
Identification
Please use the laptop identification system to identify which model you have. The different model Powerbooks look very alike and can be mixed up easily. Please make sure to know which model you have before ordering any replacement parts.
