Cycling in the United Kingdom/Local Routes

Many cities and counties have their own local routes. These generally interface with the National Cycle Network but are not part of it.

They vary from city commuter routes (often numbered) to circular rural touring routes (generally named rather than numbered).

It seems likely that, as most regional routes are moved into the national scheme, some will be 'downgraded' to local routes - the circular routes in North Wales, for example.

County Route Description Complete Route relation Notes
BuckinghamshireMilton Keynes RedwaysRedway network ? 1451442020-03-31 All redways have been consistently tagged as Foot=designated; bicycle=designated, etc.

A single relation for them all would be unmanageable and of little benefit. MK Council have now designated some as "Super Redways" and work has started tentatively to create a relation for each of these. See https://www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/highways-and-transport-hub/get-cycling-mk/get-cycling/redway-super-routes
