General description
The Garmin eTrex Touch 35 is touch operated GPS and the "big brother" of the Garmin eTrex Touch 25 but with added barometric altimeter and connectivity options for Ant+ sensors and Bluetooth. Like the rest of the eTrex serie, the intended use is hiking but the standard screen also support biking. The GPS comes with OSM based maps preloaded.

Survey settings
By default the storage interval is set to Auto which is not the best for survey.
- Go to the settings menu by shortly pressing the power button and select Settings
- Select Tracks
Directory structure
If you connect GPS using an USB cable to your computer it will either automatically go to Mass Storage mode or ask "Would you like to got to Mass Storage?" with a Yes and No button. If you press No you the GPS will switch to "garmin mode", if you press Yes it will go to Mass Storage mode.
If you have a microSD card loaded, Mass Storage mode will show you the contents of the microSD card, if not loaded, it will show the internal memory. Activities and tracks are stored in the internal memory so if you want to download them on a MS-windows system, you have to make sure the microSD card slot is empty. On a Linux computer, this limitation does not exist: both the MicroSD card and the internal memory can be mounted & accessed simultaneously. So you can simply move or copy (backup) files between both media directly.

Garmin Connect
Connecting with a smartphone can be done using the Garmin Connect app. The basic use for this is so you can have notifications on your mobile send to the GPS and to have Activities saved to the cloud. The connection with the phone is made using Bluetooth.
If you upload an "activity" to Garmin connect, you can then visit connect.garmin.com and export your activity as GPX. There is no option in Garmin Connect to send tracks from your smartphone to the GPS.
Sharing data between two GPS units wirelessly
You can exchange tracks and other info with another eTrex or Oregon device (Edge devices does not seems to work), this is done using Ant+.
To do so:
- Select Share Wirelessly in the "Power Key Menu"
- Select Receive for the device that should receive the data
- Select Send for the device sending the data and then further select what to send
- Follow further the on-screen instructions
