Level:ref is a property that specifies the ref or name of the level where an object is located, using the locally common method of indicating a specific floor. Particularly useful where levels are not referred to by numbers but by codes (level:ref=A, level:ref=K1) or by names.

level:ref=* is found on two types of features:

Similar tags

There are some similar tags: The address tag addr:floor=* has a very similar meaning. While for some objects using address tags would be weird, the level:ref tag can be used everywhere (but does not bear address semantics explicitly).

addr:floor=* should be certainly used if floor index is part of the address.

See also level=* from the Simple Indoor Tagging scheme, which describes a logical level number (to allow software to understand which level is above/below which other level, and to unambiguously match indoor and outdoor levels), and may therefore differ from how levels are locally called.
