Key:not:name

not:name
Description
Incorrect name that should not be mistaken with the feature’s real name in the name key.
Group: Names
Used on these elements
Status: in use

Used to indicate something that is NOT the name=* for an object - usually, it is used because some other external or official source seems to suggest an incorrect name. Then, not:name=* can be used to make sure that when people come to edit the name, they don't repeatedly make the same mistake.

See for example some use of it in OSM and OSL differences analysis.

A geocoder may also use this key to index certain misspellings and errors with relatively low search rank.
