A section of a aeroway=runway tagged with runway=displaced_threshold marks the area behind a displaced threshold, which is the part of runway that may be used for taxiing, take-off, and landing rollout, but not for touchdown. Displaced threshold is part of the aviation vocabulary indicating a runway threshold located at a point other than the physical beginning or end of the runway. It is indicated by a wide white line on the right edge of the highlighted section of the runway in the diagram below:

The area behind a displaced threshold is a runway section which has the same quality as the runway and is usually marked with arrows instead of a straight centreline. These sections, if present, can occur on one or both ends of the runway proper. It is distinct from aeroway=stopway.

How to map

Draw a line extending the runway — or split an existing runway at the displaced threshold if the runway already covers the area behind the displaced threshold — and add:

Usually this line will sit exactly along the middle of the section(s) of the runway marked with arrows.

Additionally, on the node where the runway=displaced_threshold section of the runway ends and the normal runway commences, aeroway=threshold can be tagged.
