The key tents=* is a qualifying key used with the features tourism=camp_site, tourism=caravan_site, tourism=camp_pitch, tourism=hotel, tourism=motel, tourism=hostel and tourism=chalet. It is also used on shops to clarify if they sell tents or not.
A tent is a shelter consisting of sheets of fabric or other material draped over, attached to a frame of poles or attached to a supporting rope. While smaller tents may be free-standing or attached to the ground, large tents are usually anchored using guy ropes tied to stakes or tent pegs.

Rationale
Some camping locations are suitable for RV's and caravans, but not for tents. Main reasons a terrain is not suitable for tents are:
- The entire terrain is covered with tarmac or another material not suitable for tents;
- The environment is too dangerous, because a risk for animals or bandits exists.
