LocalWiki

LocalWiki is a collaborative project that aims to collect and open the world's local knowledge. The LocalWiki project was founded by Mike Ivanov and Philip Neustrom, and is a nonprofit organization based in San Francisco, California. LocalWiki is both the name of the project and the software that runs the project's websites.^[1] Map contributions made to LocalWiki are licensed under the ODBL and thus are compatible with OpenStreetMap. LocalWiki heavily uses and pulls OSM data, and also has a friendly relationship with Wikipedia, even being called its "cousin" project. There has also been collaboration between all three projects. All in all, LocalWiki is generally in between OpenStreetMap and Wikipedia.

Maps

LocalWiki uses OSM-based Mapbox maps that users can contribute to by drawing the point or area the particular page refers to. The map also appears in the search. It also is used in the tag indexes (tags in LocalWiki are very different than tags here at OSM ;)!).
