Transmission paths lead fluids or goods from production (or intake) sites to storage or consumption places for further multiple usages or processing. Point here is to map large infrastructure moving important amounts on long distances. This could be compared to transmission power grids versus distribution smaller grids.
At this stage of network architecture, fluids or goods aren't dedicated to a particular usage and that's what usage=transmission is intended for. Domestic use, irrigation or further processing may apply on smaller connecting networks in repartition facilities located on edges of both transmission and specific use networks.
The path is intended for transmission, and this value excludes car, truck or boat carriage. See usage=transportation for a more appropriate value.
