Background and Identification

The Acer Iconia Tab is a tablet series manufactured by Taiwanese-based electronics company Acer Inc. Acer entered the tablet market in 2010 with the Iconia Smart, a small 4.8 in (120 mm) device.

The first device in the Tab series is the Acer Iconia Tab A100, which debuted in 2011. This 7-inch touchscreen tablet has a display resolution of 1024 x 600 and contains a 5 MP camera and a 2 MP camera. The tablet is equipped with three sensors: gyro, accelerometer, and compass. The “A” in the model number indicates the tablet’s operating system, Android. Later Acer Iconia Tabs include a “W” in the model number instead, referring to the Windows operating system.

Acer introduced their budget friendly tablet series, the Acer Iconia B1, in 2013. The 16 GB version of the tablet originally sold for $210.00 and was a low-priced competitor to the iPad mini 2 and Google Nexus 7.

As of 2020, the most recent release was the Acer Iconia Tab 10 A3-A50 in 2017. The 10.1-inch tablet has a touchscreen with a display resolution of 1920 x 1200.
