A flexible barrier made of rope - fibres, twisted or braided together to improve strength. As a barrier it is often more symbolic than actually physically preventing pedestrians from accessing.
How to map
Simply add the tag barrier=rope to the node where the rope is located.
You should also add further tags to more fully specify what kinds of vehicle or foot traffic have reasonably unhindered access using access=*.
