A plant nursery grows live plants for sale, much like a farm grows crops for food. Unlike a farm, a plant nursery generally sells the whole living plant, rather than produce. Plants being grown can include flowers, trees including Christmas trees.

Unintended use
- Trees that are grown for food production, use landuse=orchard instead.
- Greenhouses. This tag landuse=plant_nursery is strictly meant for growing plants in open land, not inside a greenhouse, for these purposes landuse=greenhouse_horticulture is used.
- Vineyards, where grapes are grown for a variety of purposes, including the production of wine: landuse=vineyard.
