Rationale

Longer skiing routes consist of multiple different ways (in many cases, but not neccessarily highway=path). In some cases, same way is shared by multiple routes. In almost all cases, every underlying way has different name than the route. The route relation is used to combine all relevant ways into continuous route.

Members

Members of the route-relation may have (among others) the following roles:

Way or Node Role Recurrence? Discussion
<empty>? 0+the ways making up the route.
link? 0+a way for the sole purpose of linking this route to the rest of a the network but not a primary part of this route itself.
shortcut? 0+shortcuts
start? 0+entry points
