Hokkaidō (北海道) is a region in Japan at latitude 43°28′51.60″ North, longitude 142°31′51.60″ East.
Subdivisions
The region, mostly located on the island with the same name, the second largest island of Japan to the north, is also a single prefecture, the largest prefecture in Japan.
Due to its size, the prefecture is subdivided into subprefectures.
